Cray Sleigh

Do not adjust your screen. Your eyes do not deceive you. This is indeed a crayfish riding a gold glittery sleigh.

At Christmas time our family is pretty big on the seafood, we like it – a lot! We like to have many different types of shellfish and the one that takes pride of place is the crayfish (mainly because it’s the most expensive).

Crayfish in a sleigh

One year we only got one crayfish to share, although it was a nice big one, and my Nanna put it in a gold sleigh she had and made it part of the centrepiece of the table. It got quite a few comments and everyone took a picture of our cray in it’s sleigh. I also took a picture but I had forgotten all about it until I came across it while searching through the file, so I thought I’d share it with you.

What type of meal do you have for Christmas? And do you call a crayfish a crayfish? Because I’ve heard them called a lobster – or is that a different thing to a crayfish?

  1. Cousins: Crayfish fresh water and lobster is salt water. Crayfish are also usually smaller. Crayfish are often called fresh water lobsters. I love lobster, but it is expensive. I haven’t eaten crayfish.

      1. Freshwater crayfish are also known as crawfish or crawdads. Looking them up, they’re also called mudbugs and yabbies, though I’ve never heard either one used. Fun.

      1. Crayfish is as is.They’re called small lobsters, lobster’s cousin but definitely not a lobster per se.It’s like if another girl looks like you but of a different size/height. Could pass as your cousin but not really you as yourself.
