Lots of things to do with kids cost a lot of money and sometimes it’s a big waste of money. For example, I have heard some things about birthday parties that I can NOT understand!
Kids parties that cost more money than I could ever dream of and even if I had that much money to spend on a birthday party – I wouldn’t!
Having a great theme is a great idea. You know me … any excuse to dress up is ok with me. Having enough activities to make it fun and interesting is also essential, plus something to eat and something to drink, but none of this needs to cost too much money.
Also, how awful does it make other families feel, now do they spend too much money also or risk having a boring party and disappointing their child? It’s so silly and I think it teaches kids the wrong priorities.
If you have the money to spare, why not use it to allow all the children at the party to experience the joy of giving and social responsibility towards children who are less fortunate. Have a charity representative come to the party and collect goods that the children can give to them one at a time, for example.
It cannot be taught that it is ok to have a cake worth $1’000 when there are children who need food and a warm blanket tonight. Trust me – you will raise better people this way!
Even if you save $200 to spare of the party budget you can buy some bulk blankets or something to do this activity at your party. Now THAT is real class, you can’t buy that!
