There are things to do with kids that aren’t actually ‘things’ and aren’t really ‘doing’ but ‘saying’. I’m talking about ‘pet names’ or in Australian we call them ‘nicknames’.
My family have so many nicknames for me that you probably wouldn’t believe me if I listed them all, which I can’t do because some of them bounce off my real name. But I can tell you that one of them is Tookii! :O shocking I know! But if you’ve ever looked down the bottom of my posts in the Author or Published by section you would know that I’m also called The Cub. This is used more when they are talking about me and Tookii is used mostly when they’re talking to me.
Getting called a pet name makes me feel loved and accepted and then there are nicknames that I’ve been called so long that I answer to it and don’t even realise anymore. It’s just like they’ve called me by my name.
Do you have pet names for your kids or grand kids?
