One of the recurring things to do with kids that I recommend is lookouts. This is because they are often scenic and have interesting information on a monument or plaque and they are often found along the highway. This makes them a great photo opportunity and a great excuse to take a break when travelling. But our lookout today, although it is most of these things, is actually located in – yes IN a town.
This little lookout that ticks lots of boxes for me. We found it in Whyalla, South Australia. For starters it’s an absolutely gorgeous view and an amazing backdrop for some holiday snaps.
Also I has history and information boards to read and interesting things to take photos with.
Flinders & Freycinet were explorers and you can read all about them right there onsite and you can also sit down and enjoy the view.
It’s a pretty funky little lookout I think. I like to stop on road trips and check out the view at lookouts but this one is not only in a town area, it’s right IN the town and it has great photo ops and interesting things too.
PS the pointy hill in the background is Hummock Hill.
