Things to do with kids that have them giving and contributing and understanding why is a great way to build empathy toward others and build self-esteem through feeling good about helping out.
When I have a growth spurt we go shopping to buy me more clothes in bigger sizes because my clothes have become too small for me to wear.
After I buy new clothes I like to have a clean out of my clothes drawers and bag up anything that I will not wear anymore.
I take these clothes to an Op Shop (Thrift or Charity Store) and donate them for people who can’t afford retail priced clothing for their kids right now.
I grow so fast that I usually out grow my clothes before I wear them out so they are usually too good to throw out or use as rags and I love that some other kids are able to have some nice clothes and that their parents might feel good about that too, that’s mostly why I like to do this instead of selling them myself even though we usually don’t have much money to buy me clothes.
Oh well I like to do some bargain shopping while I’m there too, especially books mostly. I love that I get discount shopping and my money goes to helping a charity do good things.
You always seem to find the nicest people working in an op shop, thank you Karen and Lyn.
