Blogger Recognition Award

Tookii blogger recognition award

It’s amazing to say that this blog Tookii – things to do with kids has received a nomination for the Blogger Recognition Award.

A huge thank you to Shauna of Shaunz world for nominating me for this award. This is my 4th award so far, in less than 6 months, with The Liebster Award and The Sunshine Blogger Award and One Lovely Blog Award and now The Blogger Recognition Award. What an honour, I am so grateful to be recognised and I can’t thank you enough for accepting me so warmly into the blogoshere. Shauna has a gorgeous blog that covers the topics of beauty, fashion and lifestyle in her own unique and inspiring style.

The Award Requirements

How Tookii started:

Tookii actually started years ago. As you can tell from my blog – I have been collecting media and content for many years, but as a child blogger I cannot do it without the support of my family and so I collected until they finally said yes to a trial at the beginning of this year. The blog went live at the start of February.

I want kids of the tech age to remember to go outside and find wonder in the world and find happiness in simple things. I want busy, tired families to remember that you only ever have now together and you won’t ever get it back. And, I want to go to college and this is a way that I can earn some money to allow me to do that.

I think that pretty much explains how and why I’m here and why I do things the way I do.

Advice to new bloggers:

Well, I still consider myself very new to this so I’ll give you some stats and you can decide if this part of the post is likely to be useful to you. I am about to reach 1’000 followers and 15’000 views and 4’000 visitors. Also, I will just start by saying – it depends on why you are blogging. If it’s just for you then do as you wish and enjoy it. Otherwise;

1.Don’t make me think! I want to read many posts, not search to find posts / blogs. Make sure you have your profile populated with all links etc and preferably with your blog first. If you have left an interesting comment on someone’s blog and I want to learn more about you and possibly connect with you – all I can do is click your Gravatar and work with what is there. I want to be able to find your blog, your ‘About’ and all of your social media right there. Make sure all links are current and working and that your blog is easy to navigate. I want to be able to get there and I want to want to come back.

2. I’m not going to go into monetization here but I’m going to assume that (unless you are blogging for yourself) that you want to be able to be found both online and on WordPress. This means keyword research for post titles, category names and tags. There is a default category that cannot be deleted called ‘uncategorized’ but it CAN be renamed. Uncategorized isn’t helpful to either the search engines or your visitors so I suggest renaming it to be your main keyword, almost anything will do more for your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) than ‘Uncategorized’ will.

I can go for miles on these type of subjects because it is a huge interest of mine but the requirements are one or two points so I’ll leave it there and I do hope new bloggers find the above useful.

My nominations (should you choose to accept) are:

1. Rose of Wretched and Divine

2. Joann of Joann’s Food for Thought

3. Vicki of The Page Turner

  1. Congrats,Tookii for this latest nomination! At the rate you’re going, I would not be surprised if you would become a journalist some day, even on a part-time basis while embarking on a full-time career of a different type. Being part of the school paper editorial team or as an active school paper contributor is a good start. Your blogging history is already part of your resume which attests to your experience.Keep it up!

    1. I just changed mine to my main keyword ‘things to do with kids’ so at least it is helpful for visitors and SEO / search engines and posts also automatically post to this category if another isn’t chosen so it’s good for that too 🙂
