Rice Rocks

Things to do with kids eating foods that have rice in them can be so many different things. From sushi to even rice-cream for dessert.

Rice rocks my socks! I love rice and I love to cook rice.

I love dishes that are served on a bed of rice, like butter chicken and I looove it served with freshly cooked poppadoms.

If I had to choose a favorite I guess it would have to be Chinese Special Fried Rice. I love Chinese food and I love rice so I guess it’s only natural that I love them both at the same time haharr.

  1. Being Chinese myself, I would recommend jasmine rice for Chinese,Japanese,Korean and other Oriental dishes. Middle Eastern and South Asian(India,Pakistan) dishes use basmati rice. And for the rest, it’s long-grain rice. Rice can be kept forever as long as it’s stored in a cool, dry place. Rice is very versatile. It can be made into appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts.Rice is gluten-free . It’s very filling when part of the main meal. I grew up on rice as my staple. Cooking rice can be done the old=fashioned way–using the pot or for speedy purposes, the rice cooker. Regarding fried rice, there are a million combinations for it.It’s a great way to use left-overs and cook it with rice, preferably day-old(cooked 1 day and stored for frying the next day). Chinese fried rice is considered a full meal since it uses stir-fried meat and veggies as well as strips of scrambled egg. Bon appetit!

      1. It’s similar to porridge but a bit more watery and savory with scraps of meat, spring onion, garlic, ginger for ex.. It’s usually eaten at breakfast esp. by the older people after which they go out to exercise tai chi. Oh,yes , For the dark color of Chinese Fried Rice, you can use brown rice or if you don’t have any, use drops of soy sauce to darken your white rice.
