Tookii things to do with kids at The Big Galah in Kimba one of the outdoor activities for kids

You’re a Big Galah mate!

If you find yourself at a huge sign that says halfway across Australia then just up the road you will find more photo opportunities and things to do with kids.

I have featured birds on my blog before but never this sort of bird. When I mention things to do with kids and activities for kids I often recommend interacting with animals. Birds that talk are always awesome. Today I have a treat for you in my video below.

You’ve heard of Big Bird right? Well this is a really, really big bird! Two tonnes of bird actually and that gets him on our list of big things. We came across this handsome fellow at Kimba in South Australia.

Now this bird doesn’t talk too much but there is also a real bird there that just loves visits. Every time I tried and walk away he said “hello” because he wanted me to stay. How cute is that? And it worked. I came back every time … until I had to go.

The Big Galah is an icon for the area and the first time we were driving up to it I actually thought that it was a real bird. I was not very old back then.

Now that’s a BIG BIRD

Locations with land marks like this are a great place to stop with the family and grab some fun snaps and break a long road trip. It fills little kids with a sense of wonder and provides fun memories for the family album.
