This blog (Tookii – things to do with kids) has a YouTube channel and if you’ve seen any of my videos you will have noticed that I do a voiceover – usually.
I do this for experience and also because I like to keep the live sound to a minimum most of the time to cut out wind and noise from the live footage.
For a mic I use a Shure SM7b which is a popular choice for tv and radio and also was highly used in the recording of Michael Jacksons Thriller album I believe – so it’s a good’n but it does need a pre-amp also and the program I use is ProTools.
I do a rough cut of the video and watch it through as I record my voiceover. Then bounce the audio on the other (ProTools) laptop and add it to the video before rendering it for YouTube.
That’s it !
