How Kids Learn to Write Music

Songwriting is not just for adults. Kids have things to say too!

But often it’s hard for parents to know how to get their children into music, especially if those parents don’t practice music themselves.

I would like to talk to you today about music theory. Have you ever heard of it?

Music theory is learning to read and write music correctly and I believe it is valuable for children to learn (even if only in addition to their instrument or, while they decide on an instrument to learn).

The reason that I say this is because us kids can change our minds a lot about which instrument to learn. At least if we are learning theory we can still apply the knowledge of music to any instrument in the future and therefore getting the best value for money for our musical education.

Of course exams and certificates are optional.

My recommended resources to get you started are:
